About Sunrise of Africa Schools


Sunrise of Africa School Ltd, is a registered company in Kenya, with Certificate of  Incorporation, Land Title Deed and  permission for the Garden Grove, Kitengela building and both schools comply with all Government requirements.

Main aims: academic excellence and character building.
  • Both Schools give quality education at low, affordable fees. Both Schools give scholarships to needy children: i.e. destitute, refugee, internally displaced or handicapped children.
  • The teachers are employed for their excellent qualifications, good command of English and sustained willingness and proof of study and practice of Christian Science.
  • All the children are taught Christian Science in the one hour "Monday School", which is like the Christian Science (C.S.) Sunday School. Many of them also attend the 2 nearby C.S. Sunday Schools.
  • Sunrise has a low teacher/pupil ratio; hence individual attention is given to the students' needs.

Sunrise of Africa School Ltd. has two nursery and primary schools:

a) Sunrise of Africa School , Waithaka, Nairobi West.

  • Location: 4 miles/6.4 kms west from the centre of Nairobi , in a poor area where there is a high rate of unemployment.
  • Housed in rented tin huts, on a half acre plot.
  • Started in 2004 with 3 children. In 2011, 175 children up to age 12.
  • Clean, simple utilities, yet good teaching standards.
  • Chosen by a Teacher Training College for teaching practice.

b) Sunrise of Africa School , Garden Grove , Kitengela, Nairobi East.

  • Location: 25 miles/40 kms east from the centre of Nairobi.
  • Fast growing feeder town for Nairobi , with better quality housing.
  • Double storey, well-constructed and long-lasting stone school building on Sunrise-owned 5 acre land.
  • Started in 2008 with 8 children. By October 2011, we had 270 children.
  • Future plans: secondary school, which, apart from leading to the normal academic qualifications, will also give school-leavers, during their Sunrise years, practical and vocational skills to enable them to obtain jobs if they do not pursue further education.
  • Will grow into a substantial school to promote Christian Science in the area. These children will be ambassadors to eventually spread Christian Science in the most important, largest and highly populated city in Kenya, Nairobi, its capital.
